The Audience Came to Work

by Dave ButlerAugust 21, 2019

I went to a concert a few days ago.

Even though people paid a lot of money and traveled from far away places the times, during the concert, when they were most excited was when THEY sang. The audience loved it when the dude [who we were paying to watch] held out the microphone so the audience could sing along.

Your audience wants to sing. They want to participate. They want to be a part of the event.

Stop communicating to people and start communicating with people.

Ask real questions. Make jokes. Identify. Learn about them. Ask them why.

No one will ever walk out of your briefing, assembly, class or YouTube video saying, “that sucked. He made me talk too much.”
