When I’m preparing a new team member for a deployment, I like to focus on mission. I’ll talk about the organization, our relationships, and the products they’ll write all day, if they let me.
Inevitably, the new member will blink and say: “Great, thanks. Where is the dining facility?”
“What’s the gym like?”
“Is there wi-fi?”
This is a simple reminder to include the information your audience needs, not just what you want to talk about.
Do your listeners know where the food is?
