No matter your position or section within the military: if you are dealing in the realm of legal things in an official capacity, your Staff Judge Advocate will be part of it. Seek them out, or they will find you and make sure you do it right. This is their responsibility: protect the commander on all things related to Law.
And you will listen to them. Because they’re right.
Why would the world of Public Affairs and communication be any different? Why would we let organization members pick and choose, on their own volition, when (and in which capacity) the PAO is invited to contribute to the way they present and share the command’s interests?
That ain’t how it works, brother. We’re the commander’s communication experts. When it is in the organization’s interest, we will make sure your messaging and branding matches our organization’s standards.
And you will listen to us.
